Overview
Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU), Lucknow is a premier UGC-recognized, AICTE-approved public state technical university and one of the largest affiliating technical universities in India. Established in 2000 as Uttar Pradesh Technical University and later renamed in honour of former President Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, AKTU is the apex body governing technical education in Uttar Pradesh, with 750+ affiliated colleges alongside its own constituent campuses.
The university’s main campus is located at Naya Khera, Jankipuram Extension, Lucknow, with an additional campus in Noida. Its constituent institutes include the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET Lucknow), the Faculty of Architecture, the Institute of Pharmacy and the UP Institute of Design, making it a complete destination for engineering, technology, pharmacy, architecture, management and computer applications education. AKTU is also a member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), and its professional programmes are recognized by statutory bodies such as the Council of Architecture (COA), Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) and NCTE.
AKTU offers a wide spectrum of programmes including B.Tech, B.Arch, B.Pharm, BHMCT, BFAD, BCA, BBA, MBA, MCA, M.Tech, M.Pharm, M.Arch and Ph.D. across disciplines. Admissions are conducted through national-level entrances such as JEE Main, CUET-UG/PG, NATA, GATE and CMAT, followed by UPTAC state counselling.
