Overview
Ras Bihari Bose Subharti University (RBBSU), Dehradun is a NAAC-accredited private state university established in 2016 under the Uttarakhand Adhiniyam, 2016 (UK Act No. 35 of 2016) by the Dr. Jagat Narain Subharti Charitable Trust. Approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and AICTE, and recognised by INC, PCI, NCTE and the Uttarakhand Paramedical Council, the university has built a strong identity in health sciences, allied health, pharmacy, nursing, physiotherapy, naturopathy and yogic sciences, alongside programmes in management, commerce, computer applications, education, fine arts, fashion design, journalism and Buddhist studies.
The university’s picturesque campus, popularly known as “Subhartipuram”, is spread across approximately 20 acres at the foothills of the Himalayas at Kotra Santour, Nanda ki Chowki, Premnagar, Dehradun, about 1 km from NH-72 on Chakrata Road. Its constituent medical college, Gautam Buddha Chikitsa Mahavidyalaya, offers the MBBS programme, while the attached 350+ bed Dr. K.K.B.M. Subharti Hospital gives students extensive clinical exposure and hands-on training. A distinctive centre for Buddhist Studies and a dedicated Faculty of Naturopathy & Yogic Science further add to its specialised offerings.
RBBSU follows a student-centric, value-based learning model with the motto “Siksha Seva Sanskar”. Admissions are merit and entrance based — NEET-UG for MBBS and the university’s own entrance or qualifying-exam merit for other programmes. The university reserves 25% of seats for permanent residents of Uttarakhand, who also benefit from a lower fee quota (UQ). With modern laboratories, smart classrooms, a well-stocked library, separate hostels for boys and girls, sports facilities, a 280+ seat auditorium and transport services across the city, the university offers an affordable, disciplined and career-focused environment for students from across India.
